Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about the claims process

A PCP (Personal Contract Purchase) car finance claim is a compensation claim made against car finance providers who may have mis-sold your finance agreement. This typically involves hidden commission arrangements where the dealer received a commission from the lender without your knowledge, which may have resulted in you paying a higher interest rate than necessary.

The FCA estimates an average of around £830 per agreement for those who qualify, but amounts vary widely — some people receive more, some less, and some receive nothing. The redress scheme is estimated to pay out around £7.5 billion across the industry (FCA, 2026). Compensation is not guaranteed.

On 1 August 2025 the Supreme Court ruled that car dealers were generally not acting as fiduciaries, which narrowed the basis for some claims, but it upheld one claim under the Consumer Credit Act's "unfair relationship" test. Compensation now flows mainly through the FCA's redress scheme (confirmed in PS26/3, March 2026) rather than automatic payouts. The scheme is currently subject to a legal challenge that the FCA has said will delay payouts.

Under the FCA redress scheme, once you accept an offer the lender must normally pay within one month. However, the scheme is currently subject to a legal challenge that the FCA has said will delay payouts, so overall timescales are uncertain. We'll keep you updated throughout.

No Win, No Fee means you won't pay anything if your claim is unsuccessful. Our service is completely free to use unless we successfully recover compensation for you. If your claim is successful, we charge a fee between 18-36% (including VAT) of the compensation received.

You may be eligible if you took out PCP or HP car finance between 6 April 2007 and 1 November 2024 and were not told about commission paid to the dealer (including discretionary commission or other undisclosed arrangements). Eligibility is decided case by case. You can complain to your lender directly for free.

To start your claim, you'll need to provide basic personal information including your name, address history, date of birth, and contact details. We'll use this information to search for your finance agreements. You don't need to have your original finance documents – we can locate these for you.

Yes. You can complain about PCP or HP finance agreements taken out between 6 April 2007 and 1 November 2024, even if they have been fully paid off. Many eligible agreements have already ended.

After you submit your claim, our team will review your details and search for your finance agreements. We'll then send a letter of complaint to each relevant lender on your behalf. The lender will investigate your claim and respond within the timeframes set by the FCA. We'll keep you informed at every stage of the process.
